Executive Director

The Portsmouth Area Arts Council has an exciting opportunity for the role of Executive Director. We’re looking for someone with a background in arts administration, theatre, and/or nonprofit leadership with aspirations to serve PAAC’s mission of integrating the arts into the lives of children and families in the Portsmouth, Ohio, region. The successful candidate will oversee the administration, programs, strategic plan, and fiscal integrity of the Portsmouth Area Arts Council. The ED will be able to articulate and embody the vision, mission, unique value proposition, and overall strategy of the organization. The ED will work closely with the Board of Directors and will foster an environment of inclusiveness and collaboration to ensure the success of achieving goals and growing the reach of our educational fine arts programs.

The person in this role is preferably within driving distance to Portsmouth, Ohio. They will work in our office located in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts, and/or their home office. Some evenings and weekends are required.

Primary Function
The Executive Director is the key management leader of the Portsmouth Area Arts Council. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. Also responsible for the fiscal integrity of PAAC, including submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization. Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Children’s Theatre Director

The Portsmouth Area Arts Council has an exciting opportunity for the role of Children’s Theatre Director. We’re looking for someone with a background in musical theatre, theatre, music, dance, and/or education with aspirations to serve PAAC’s mission of integrating the arts into the lives of children and families in the Portsmouth, Ohio region. The successful candidate will oversee the production planning and implementation of the Portsmouth Area Arts Council Children’s Theatre three show season. The CT Director will be able to articulate and embody the vision, mission, unique value proposition, and overall strategy of the organization. The CT Director will work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and our Children’s Theatre company members to will foster an environment of inclusiveness, creativity, and collaboration to ensure the success of PAAC’s Children’s Theatre division.

 The person in this role is preferably within driving distance to Portsmouth, Ohio. They will work in our office located in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts and the Children’s Theatre rehearsal spaces on Shawnee State University’s campus. Evenings and some weekends are required.

Primary Function
The Children’s Theatre Director oversees the planning and implementation of the Portsmouth Area Arts Council’s Children’s Theatre season. This includes the casting, direction, music direction, choreography, creative direction, and technical direction of each of the three Main Stage productions in PAAC’s Children’s Theatre season. The CT Director is also responsible for creating and fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all students who participate in PACT productions. The CT Director works closely with the Executive Director to ensure budgetary needs are met throughout the production process. The position reports to the Executive Director and the PAAC Board of Directors.
